Please do not stress over this!
-
- For the first question, please write a brief paragraph describing a classroom innovation you have implemented in your teaching. Include a description of the innovation, the circumstances that led you to try it, and a short analysis of why it was successful. The innovation may apply to seated, hybrid, and/or online classes.
- The second question is a paragraph about a specific teaching challenge you would like input on.
The North Carolina Great Teachers Seminar is a dynamic and inspiring event that brings together educators from a wide range of disciplines to share ideas, explore innovative teaching strategies, and address common classroom challenges. Guided by experienced seminar staff, participants engage in small group sessions tailored to their unique interests and instructional needs, fostering meaningful dialogue and practical solutions.
Please also bring the following to the seminar:
ANY single Teaching Device or Strategy, NATD (non-astounding teaching device), homemade or commercial, subject-oriented (but not necessarily subject specific) or universally applicable, which has enhanced your teaching effectiveness. Bring and/or be prepared to share anything from your “bag of teaching tricks”. This doesn’t have to be a physical “thing,” but can be sharing an activity or idea that has made teaching more effective for you and is a “little thing” that works in your classroom. Presentation time of this device or strategy is limited to 1 – 3 minutes. We do not have projectors or computers available for sharing so, these are generally low tech, but you are free to bring handouts if you want to share with the group.
One copy of a book relating to teaching which you have found helpful or inspiring. Your selection will become part of a Browsing Library at the Seminar that will be available for all participants during the seminar. At the conclusion of the seminar, participants take home the book they brought.
